About Pierrick Boyer

Growing up in Valognes, France, Pierrick’s passion for pastries was ignited at an early age. Living next door to a pastry shop, he spent much of his youth tasting the decadent creations and watching the chefs work. At 15 he commenced his apprenticeship near his local town. With a desire to further his classical training, in 1992 he undertook a CAP Patisserie and Masters Degree in Pastry at Les Compagnons Du Devoir.

Pierrick then spent 6 years in America working in a variety of roles including Sous Pastry Chef at the Ritz Carlton Boston. In 2003 he returned to France taking up a position at the Plaza Athenee in Paris, under the mentorship of renowned Chef Christophe Michalak.

A holiday to Australia the following year led to Pierrick’s permanent relocation to Melbourne, where he was appointed Executive Pastry Chef at the RACV City Club. In July 2007, Pierrick opened Le Petit Gateau, a specialised patisserie within the RACV centre. Over the next decade Pierrick’s original recipes, contemporary presentation and distinctive approach to flavours gained him a cult following. 

Last month Pierrick launched the eponymous Pierrick Boyer Cafe Patisserie in the Melbourne suburb of Prahran. The 70-seater patisserie-cafe offers a mix of savoury breakfast and lunch dishes alongside the decadent cakes and desserts he's famed for. There is also a partitioned space for private events and cooking classes.
