Samphire – As seen on Master Chef

Samphire is an edible succulent that grows in coastal areas of Australia. With slim, noded stems it has a slight resemblance to asparagus, but delivers a salty, spicy taste with crunch. Samphire is a versatile ingredient that can be enjoyed in a wide variety of ways. Try blanching or lightly boiling then toss with butter or oil and vinegar as an exciting side dish. Samphire adds unique flavour to seafood dishes. It can be sautéed, stir-fried, steamed, pickled or used as a unique garnish for a wide range of meals.

Yea Races Luncheon

Flowerdale Farm is a principal sponsor of the Eat Drink Charity initiative and hosts of the annual Yea Races luncheon. A fantastic day out for all the family, enjoy the fun of country racing in a trackside marque whilst indulging in the finest regional and gourmet produce prepared by some of Melbourne’s more celebrated chefs. Finger Limes In Season

Witlof

This unique vegetable has smooth, firm white leaves with either pale yellow or red tips. Witlof is grown indoors in the absence of sunlight in order to prevent the leaves from turning green and opening up. It can be eaten raw or cooked. Witlof is ideal to use in salads – combine with blue cheese and sweet flavours such as roast pumpkin, pear or apple for a fresh summer meal. It is also perfect for entrees and savoury dishes, adding distinct flavour and texture.
Witlof is available as spears in 250g trays and boxes of 10 x 250g pre packed, or as loose leaves in 2kg and 4kg boxes.
